WATCH 1685- MITEY MATE JR VIDEO
One of the handiest tools in the shop is your Mitey Mate Jr. (Model 1685S) hand-held expander that runs off of shop air. It allows you to work where the tubes are, for example right up under a vehicle. It quickly allows you to reshape existing tubes and easily fashion slip fits, expanding one pipe end to fit over another. This helps you connect virtually any pipe securely and quickly. But there are a lot of other things you can do with a Mitey Mate Jr. if you have the right tooling
Ball Joints: Ball joint segmented tooling allows you to form the tube end into a ball shape. A ball-type joint allows some motion flexibility between pipes while still allowing them to be connected securely. We stock tooling to work with 1-3/4 inch through 3-1/2 inch tubing.
V-Bands: V band clamps are a very robust way to secure tubes. The v band tool provides the v-shaped bead you need for this clamp to work. We stock tooling to work 2 inch through 3 inch tube sizes.
Beads: Bead tools are segmented tools that allow you to place a bead form near the end of the tube. Placing bead forms in tubes are commonly used for many clamping applications. We stock tooling for 1-1/2 inch through 4 inch tubing.
Flares: Flaring segments allow you to expand the end of the tube outward in a V shape. One tool can work on a range of tubing sizes for this application. Qe stock tooling to work with 1-1/8 inch to 3-1/2 inch tubing.
Flanges: You can also use a tool to form a flange near the end of your tube. We stock tooling that will work with 1-3/4 to 2-1/2 inch tooling.
Header Port shapes: With a special arbor and a special segment tool, you can form the end of your tube to the shape of your exhaust port. We have a few shapes in stock, but typically this works best with a simple, reasonably priced custom tool that we would be very happy to help you with!
